What the Area X Adult Rider program had to offer in 2011

We started out the season in March with a wonderful 2 day clinic with the renown Jimmy Wofford. The clinic and lectures were well attended by riders and auditors. Jim’s wit and insight kept everyone listening carefully. There were some videos posted to help you all remember the moment!

In July, Area X hosted the Western Chronicle of the Horse Adult Team Challenge. We had 15 Teams with participants from Area X, Area VII and Area V from BN to P!!! All participating AR’s had a great time and went home with beautiful Chronicle of the Horse ribbons and lots of loot. The winning teams of each division were presented with coolers, photographed with their winning perpetual trophies and were featured in the Chronicle of the Horse. Many thanks to Christie Murphy for helping me out with this one!

In December we had an excellent clinic with Becky Holder. Becky built on the basics she started with on day 1. I know all the riders learned a lot and rose to the challenging exercises that simulated some difficult x country questions by Day 2. Becky has a keen eye and really knows how to give individual  rider skills and exercises that they can return home and practice with. Lets wish her the best in her quest for the Olympics!!! Go Becky! The happy hour(s) were well attended at each Area X event and provided a great opportunity to get together with fellow AR’s and extend our hospitality to all other adults in the vicinity. The casual atmosphere, friendly AR’s, beverages and light fair and seem to be a winner. Many thanks to our hosts Manuela Propfe/Jumping Cholla, Alice Sarno/Desert Sport Horse, Jeffray Ryding/Goose Downs, Heather Drager, Denise Krause-Spangler/DMK Performance Horses , Gilly Slayter-Voigtlander/Simply Three Day, and Frederic Bouland/FB Eventing. If you see these folks at 2012 Happy Hour(s) Please thank them for their time and effort.
