Crackerjack (2003 - 2017)

Crackerjack, a 15.3 hand Irish Sport Horse gelding by Aberjack out of Satan’s Slave was bred by Lucy Boynton Lie for her son Colin Davidson to ride. Davidson started “Crackers” at the Beginner Novice level in 2008 and campaigned him through the Preliminary level. In December of 2010, Davidson passed away in a car accident at the age of 29.

As the 2017 season draws to a close, riders all over the country are competing in long-format USEA Classic Series events as the culmination of their fall season. Hagyard Midsouth Horse Trials at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, hosted both a Training Three-Day as well as the only Preliminary Three-Day in the country at their event on October 18-22, 2017.

Lynn Symansky and RF Cool Play Bring Home Virginia CCI2* Victory

Lynn Symansky, of Middleburg, Va., and The Donner Syndicate’s RF Cool Play were the only combination in the Virginia CCI2* to finish on their dressage score. Their proficiency in all three phases was rewarded with a commanding victory at Virginia Horse Trials (VHT) in Lexington.

Young Rider Alexandra Baugh Earns First International Victory at Virginia CIC2*

Area VIII Young Rider Alexandra Baugh, 16, has won the Virginia CIC2* in her first attempt at the level with Altorac Farm’s 15-year-old Irish Sport Horse, Ballingowan Pizazz. They finished on their dressage score of 47.7 to top the division of 29 starters.

Today at the Pau CCI4* in France, Lucy Boynton Lie’s Crackerjack had a wonderful cross-country round. I felt like it was one of our best ever trips together: we were jumping clear and took all the direct routes, and coming into the final stretch in the arena, he had plenty left in the tank. He felt fresh and his ears were pricked and I was thrilled with the way he was going.

Canada's Jessica Phoenix Leads the Way in Virginia CCI2*

The first of over 550 horse and rider combinations danced down centerline today in the Virginia CCI/CIC and HT at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Virginia. All FEI and Preliminary competitors posted their initial scores today in dressage. The CIC*, Intermediate, and non-Championship Preliminary divisions also negotiated Chris Barnard’s influential show jumping course.

Dominant Performances by Myers and Leuenberger in USEA Classic Series at Waredaca

Waredaca Horse Trials in Laytonsville, Maryland hosted the only 2017 USEA Classic Series events in Area II at their fall event, October 19-22, 2017. In addition to a full horse trials for Beginner Novice through Preliminary levels, Waredaca also offered Training and Novice Three-Day divisions. There were 24 competitors in the Training Three-Day and 28 in the Novice Three-Day.

2017 USEA Course Designer's Educational Grant

The USEA has established a Course Designers’ Educational Grant/Mentoring Program to fund the education and development of U.S. course designers. The program is open to those who have competed at the CCI2* level in recent years and who have completed the Course Design Module at a USEA Training Program for Eventing Officials Seminar. Funds of up to $6,000 will be awarded in 2017.

The United States Eventing Association (USEA) is soliciting proposals from qualified parties interested in producing or providing Event Management Software (EMS) to the USEA and its members. EMS is used by organizers and event secretaries for all behind the scenes aspects of running an event including scheduling, exporting reports, labels, communication, etc. Up-to-the minute, live, online scoring is also an integral part of the EMS.
